2026-04-22

More than 60 SISU alumni, students, and faculty members took part in the 2026 Chongqing Shapingba Half Marathon and Second Alumni Half Marathon on April 19, joining runners from across the city in a celebration of endurance, community, and school spirit.

The race began at Shaci Cultural Square in Ciqikou, Chongqing. Gou Chaoli, deputy Party secretary of SISU, was invited to attend the opening ceremony.

SISU mobilized strong participation for the event, bringing together a multigenerational team of runners. The group included seasoned distance runners in their 70s as well as young alumni and students, all representing the university on the course.

To support the runners, the university organized a volunteer cheering station along the route. Volunteers lined the course and cheered on participants throughout the race, helping create an energetic and festive atmosphere.

With music from SISU’s signature group dance routine adding to the excitement, the race unfolded to constant cheers from the crowd. Alumni runners pushed through the challenge with grit and determination, testing their limits and completing the race in strong spirit.

The event offered alumni a meaningful opportunity to reconnect and underscored the strength of the SISU alumni community. The university will continue to expand alumni services and create more opportunities for connection through a wider range of alumni programs and events.
