Chongqing Youth Volunteer Team for International Communication Launched at SISU

The Chongqing Youth Volunteer Team for International Communication was officially launched on March 29 in Gele Building, east campus of SISU.

 

Among those attending were Huang Zonghua, deputy secretary of the Chongqing Committee of the Communist Youth League, and Yan Gongjun, vice president of Sichuan International Studies University. Also present were Xiao Dan, director of the Volunteer Service and Social Work Talent Division of the Chongqing Municipal Social Work Department; Li Li, secretary of the Shapingba District Committee of the Communist Youth League; Cao Haiyan, secretary of the SISU Youth League Committee; Guo Jian, Party secretary of the School of Journalism and Communication, SISU; and the team’s first group of 112 volunteers.

 

The event was organized by the Chongqing Volunteer Service Guidance Center, Chongqing International Communication Institute, the Chongqing Young Volunteers Association, and the Chongqing Youth Volunteer Service Foundation, and hosted by the SISU Youth League Committee and the School of Journalism and Communication.

 

In his remarks, Yan spoke about SISU’s recent work in international communication and highlighted the university’s efforts in talent development, academic research, and hands-on training. Addressing the first group of volunteers, he encouraged them to pair their language skills with strong volunteer service skills and a strong sense of responsibility. He said they should present China’s development and Chongqing’s distinctive character in languages international audiences can understand and connect with, while using volunteer service to promote cross-cultural understanding.

 

Huang said volunteer service can build friendship across borders and create meaningful opportunities for cultural exchange. He encouraged the volunteers to help foster mutual understanding, take on responsibility through service.

 

The ceremony also featured a multilingual recitation titled Chongqing, to the World. Xiao Dan presented the team flag, and guests presented appointment letters to representatives of the first group of volunteers. After remarks from volunteer representatives, all volunteers took a collective oath.
