2026-10-28

Sichuan International Studies University (SISU) hosted a series of cultural events on October 16 as part of the 2026 China-Russia Year of Education, bringing together seven Russian performing arts groups and nearly 1,000 Chinese and international students and faculty.

Under the theme "Art Bridges China and Russia, Youth Looks to the Future," Chinese and Russian performers presented a joint cultural showcase featuring artistic traditions from both countries. SISU Party Secretary Liu Sifang and Deputy Party Secretary Gou Chaoli attended the event.

The program also included a cultural exchange event titled "Discovering China at the Foot of Gele Mountain," where Chinese and Russian students shared videos and participated in activities such as traditional lacquer fan painting, calligraphy and sugar painting. Participants also toured the university's history exhibition.

SISU plans to expand its international student exchange programs in the coming years, with a focus on faculty and student exchanges, joint curriculum development and collaborative research between Chinese and Russian universities.

Officials from relevant Shapingba District government departments, representatives from other universities in Chongqing, and alumni from China and abroad joined SISU faculty and students for the cultural performances.
