Teaching innovation, international cooperation and cultural heritage were among the key topics discussed during an inspection of the School of International Education at Sichuan International Studies University (SISU) on October 9. The inspection was led by Party Secretary Liu Sifang, accompanied by Deputy Party Secretary Gou Chaoli, to review the school’s progress and identify priorities for future development.

During the tour, Liu observed a bilingual class on AI-enhanced teaching skills delivered by faculty member Chen Dajuan. Impressed by the course design, classroom interaction and student engagement, he encouraged the school to further integrate digital technologies into teaching. Liu also spoke with students about their academic experiences, campus life and career plans, encouraging them to take advantage of SISU’s international learning opportunities to broaden their perspectives and develop professional and cross-cultural competencies.

At a subsequent meeting, Ding Huan, Secretary of the School’s Party General Branch, outlined the school's development over the past decade, highlighting its achievements in faculty development, academic programs and student training, as well as challenges requiring further attention. Vice Dean Liu Yao reported on progress in academic development, international partnerships and community engagement, including preparations for a doctoral program in education. Faculty and student representatives also shared their experiences and presented academic publications, student-created bilingual picture books and early childhood education projects.

Following the presentations, Liu commended the school’s achievements and highlighted its role in advancing SISU's internationalization efforts. He encouraged the school to build on its strengths, pursue more distinctive academic achievements and strengthen its capacity to prepare graduates with international perspectives and professional expertise.

Liu placed particular emphasis on integrating China’s intangible cultural heritage into teaching, research and think tank initiatives. He called for greater efforts to incorporate traditional Chinese culture into international education and develop distinctive programs in cultural preservation and innovation.

The school will follow up on the inspection by developing action plans, assigning responsibilities and setting timelines to implement the recommendations.

Representatives from the university’s Party and Administrative Affairs Office, Organization Department and other administrative units attended the inspection, alongside the school's leadership team, faculty and students.
