2024-12-24

On November 24th, the 2nd "Excellence Cup" Global Governance and China's Solutions—Youth International Competence Case Design Competition took place at Shanghai International Studies University. The competition, aimed at promoting global cooperation and discovering exceptional young international talents, attracted 22 teams from 14 universities nationwide.

The competition focused on current global challenges, including regional development, sustainable poverty alleviation, and cultural heritage preservation. It tested participants' foreign language proficiency, cross-cultural issue analysis, and negotiation skills. A team of undergraduates from the College of Translation and Interpreting at Sichuan International Studies University, consisting of Cai Yin, He Yujia, and Guo Xin from the Class of 2024, delivered an outstanding performance under the guidance of Professor Zhang Wenhe, winning the third prize.

Centered around global governance and China's solutions, the competition featured intense and creative case design and presentation rounds. The team from Sichuan International Studies University chose "Cultural Heritage and Cultural Relics Protection" as their theme. They presented a "role play and speech" format, highlighting the Sino-Egyptian-Mongolian Temple joint archaeological project. The team illustrated how Chinese wisdom and solutions have facilitated collaboration between the two countries in exploring cultural treasures, enabling dialogue between ancient civilizations across time and space. This case was presented as a key example of China's contribution to the global civilization initiative. Additionally, the team proposed an action plan for international governance of cultural relics protection, demonstrating the international competence and responsibility of young Chinese scholars in cultural heritage preservation.
