SISU Polish Major Secures First Place in Prestigious Translation Competition
Wang Jiahui, a Polish major of the 2023 class at Sichuan International Studies University’s Western Languages and Cultures Department, has earned first place in the beginner category of the “Chronicles of Translators” Polish Translation Competition.
Organized by the Polish Embassy in China, the competition recently announced its results, highlighting the talents of Chinese students and recent graduates (those who completed their studies no earlier than 2021) from more than ten distinguished universities across China and Poland.
The competition was divided into two categories—beginner and advanced—with participants required to translate excerpts from Kroniki Jakuba (The Chronicles of Jakub ) by Andrzej Pilipiuk from Polish into Chinese.
A panel of accomplished translators and educators evaluated over 130 submissions, ultimately selecting six winners and acknowledging eight additional noteworthy entries. Wang Jiahui’s exceptional translation in the beginner category has brought considerable honor to SISU's Polish program.
Building on this success, the faculty and students of the Polish program are dedicated to furthering their progress, prioritizing the enhancement of comprehensive language proficiency through a “competition-driven learning” model.
