2025-10-24

On October 17, Sichuan International Studies University (SISU) held its Autumn Job Fair for the Class of 2026 on the West Campus.

The fair brought together more than 200 employers from 24 provinces and regions across China, offering over 8,000 job opportunities. Liu Sifang, Secretary of the CPC SISU Committee, and President Dong Hongchuan visited the event, speaking with company representatives and students to learn about recruitment needs and job matching.

At the booths of Dongfang Xinyuan Group Co., Ltd., Changan Minsheng Logistics Co., Ltd., and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Secretary Liu discussed hiring plans, job requirements, and feedback on SISU graduates’ language skills, practical abilities, and overall performance. He noted that as a leading institution for foreign language education in Southwest China, SISU aligns its programs with national strategies and regional development priorities. The university continues to refine its academic structure and promote the “Foreign Languages+” and “+Foreign Languages” interdisciplinary models to strengthen students’ cross-cultural communication skills. Liu added that universities and employers should deepen cooperation, explore new models of industry–education integration, and establish regular employment-matching mechanisms to better connect academic training with workforce needs.

President Dong observed that in a globalized job market, professionals with strong language proficiency and intercultural competence are in high demand. He encouraged continued enhancement of the “Foreign Languages + Professional Studies” and “Professional Studies + Foreign Languages” programs to help graduates build stronger professional foundations.

This year’s job fair featured employers from a wide range of industries, including Fortune 500 companies and major enterprises such as Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Deloitte Huacheng Business Services Co., Ltd., and Chery Automobile Co., Ltd., as well as internationally oriented firms such as CNBM International Corporation and Chongqing Transsion Communication Technology Co., Ltd. Participating organizations represented sectors including manufacturing, cross-border trade, finance, multilingual services, education, and logistics—reflecting the growing demand for graduates with both language and interdisciplinary expertise.

Employers also showed strong interest in graduates proficient in multiple languages. More than 70 percent of participating companies operated internationally. In addition to English, recruiters sought candidates fluent in Japanese, Russian, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Portuguese, Italian, Vietnamese, and Thai. There was also rising demand for graduates with backgrounds in international finance, trade, law, and area studies, underscoring the need for talent with global vision and cross-cultural competence.

Nearly 3,000 students attended the fair and submitted more than 5,000 résumés. SISU set up a “Policy and Career Services” area where departments provided information on national programs such as “Three Supports and One Assistance,” the “Western China Service Program,” and military enlistment. Services including résumé reviews and interview coaching were also offered. Zhang, a student from the School of Western Languages and Cultures, shared, “Several companies offered positions closely related to my major in Portuguese. The university’s career guidance helped me perform more confidently in interviews, and I’ve already received several second-round invitations.”

In preparation for the fair, SISU organized career-readiness programs for both faculty and students. The Admissions and Career Development Office implemented a dual-track training system that offered counselors workshops on employment trends and job-matching platforms, while inviting corporate HR specialists to lead sessions on résumé writing and interview techniques. Students also took part in small-group workshops on job application strategies.

In recent years, SISU has continued to strengthen its career development and employment service systems, leading to steady improvements in employment outcomes and graduate satisfaction. Moving forward, the university will further enhance career services, deepen industry–education collaboration, and expand platforms for university–enterprise cooperation to better align education with employment and contribute to Chongqing’s growth as a modern, internationally connected city.
