The 2025 “Chinese Bridge” Summer Camp, organized by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of China’s Ministry of Education and hosted by the International College of Sichuan International Studies University (SISU), came to a successful close at Gele Academy at SISU. The two-week program was jointly organized by SISU and the Confucius Institute at Nizhny Novgorod State Linguistic University (NNLGU) in Russia.

Over thirteen days, participants embarked on an immersive journey themed Intangible Cultural Heritage of Bashu and Flavors of Sichuan and Chongqing, exploring the intersections of language, culture, and modern development. They practiced Chinese calligraphy and painting, experienced the charm of paper-cutting, and learned to make traditional dumplings, discovering the warmth and hospitality embedded in Chinese culinary culture. From the historic streets of Ciqikou and the lively alleys of Kuanzhai to the Sichuan Cuisine Museum and the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, students discovered the culture of Sichuan and Chongqing by exploring its streets and tasting its flavors.

The program also highlighted China’s achievements in modern technology and manufacturing. During a visit to Changan Automobile’s smart factory, participants witnessed firsthand the sophistication of China’s intelligent manufacturing and felt the pulse of its rapid development. The blend of tradition and innovation offered Russian students a vivid glimpse into a dynamic, modern China.

At the closing ceremony, Zhu Tianxiang, Director of SISU’s Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, encouraged participants to serve as “bridges of friendship” between China and Russia, saying, “Share the China you have seen with more people.” Anna, the Russian Director of the Confucius Institute at NNLGU, expressed her gratitude on behalf of the institute: “We not only learned the Chinese language, but also fell in love with China.” Outstanding participant Zaitsev Dmitrii vowed to continue learning Chinese and contribute to future China–Russia exchanges.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of completion certificates and a student-led performance, bringing this cross-cultural journey to a joyful close.
