Sichuan International Studies University (SISU) established its Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Alumni Association on June 28 in Hong Kong, marking a new step in strengthening connections with alumni across the region and expanding the university’s engagement with the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area.

The establishment ceremony was held alongside the SISU Alumni in the Greater Bay Area Development Forum, which brought together university representatives, alumni, and partners to discuss opportunities for collaboration and development. Gou Chaoli, Deputy Party Secretary of SISU and Executive Vice President of the university’s Alumni Association, attended the event and delivered remarks.

In her address, Gou said the establishment of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Alumni Association represents an important milestone for SISU alumni in the region and strengthens the university’s global alumni network. She noted that with the continued support of alumni, SISU has advanced academic development, improved talent cultivation, strengthened research capacity, and expanded international engagement.

Gou highlighted SISU’s ongoing efforts to build a comprehensive alumni network, which now includes 30 regional alumni associations, 19 alumni branches affiliated with academic schools, and one industry-based alumni association. The establishment of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Alumni Association further extends this network and provides a new platform connecting alumni, students, and the university.

She encouraged the new association to strengthen alumni services, support connections among alumni and the university community, and contribute to cultural exchange and social development through the collective efforts of SISU alumni.

From June 29 to 30, Gou led a university delegation in a series of institutional visits and industry engagement activities in Hong Kong, focusing on educational cooperation, talent development, and career opportunities for students.

The delegation visited the University of Hong Kong, where Gou met with Vice-President Yin Xiaobo. Discussions focused on areas including interdisciplinary foreign language education, joint course development, faculty and student exchanges, and internship opportunities. Both sides explored possibilities for leveraging the strengths of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area to develop new models of interdisciplinary education, including the integration of foreign languages with other professional fields.

The delegation also visited AXA Financial Services and Hong Kong Xinhua InternationalGroup to strengthen connections between higher education and industry.

At AXA Financial Services, Gou met with Regional Chief Executive Chen Jianhong. The discussion focused on aligning industry needs with university talent development, including the establishment of internship and training opportunities, industry-focused lectures, and joint cultivation of professionals with expertise in both finance and foreign languages.

Chen noted that Hong Kong’s role as an international financial center has created strong demand for professionals with both language skills and financial expertise, and expressed interest in developing long-term cooperation with SISU to provide students with more internship and employment opportunities in Hong Kong.

Gou said SISU will continue to leverage its strengths in foreign language education, strengthen collaboration with industry partners, and support students in pursuing high-quality career development opportunities in the Greater Bay Area.

At Hong Kong Xinhua International Group, Gou met with President Li Zhuolin and Chairman Zhao Changsheng to discuss cooperation in international organization talent development, internship platforms, and preparations for the second Global Youth Talent Development Summit on International Organizations.

The discussions also explored opportunities for expanding cooperation with Hong Kong universities in international education and foreign-related legal training, while promoting internship and employment opportunities for SISU students in Hong Kong.

The visit further strengthened SISU’s connections with alumni, universities, and industry partners in Hong Kong, supporting the university’s efforts to expand international engagement, enhance talent development, and contribute to regional collaboration.
