Sichuan International Studies University (SISU) welcomed a delegation from the Chongqing Daily Press Group on July 2 to discuss further cooperation in international communication, talent development, and research.

The delegation was led by Chen Jin, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Chongqing Daily Press Group. Other senior representatives attending the event included Zhou Qiuhan, a member of the Party Committee and Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Chongqing Daily Press Group. SISU Party Secretary Liu Sifang attended the meeting, which was chaired by SISU Deputy Party Secretary Gou Chaoli. Heads of relevant university offices, colleges, and schools, as well as representatives from Chongqing Daily Press Group, also attended the discussions.

Before the meeting, the delegation visited the SISU History Exhibition Hall, the Institute for Area Studies, and the School of Journalism and Communication. At the Public Opinion and Regional Image Research Center, the delegation learned about ongoing research projects and engaged with faculty members and researchers.

At the meeting, Gou Chaoli introduced SISU’s development in academic advancement, internationalization, social engagement, and international communication. She also outlined the university’s efforts to support China’s international communication initiatives and contribute to Chongqing’s development as an inland hub for global engagement.

Cooperation in international communication, talent cultivation, institutional branding, and resource sharing were among the key areas discussed at the meeting. Future cooperation mechanisms and implementation plans were also explored, with both sides recognizing the complementary strengths and strong foundation for further collaboration between SISU and Chongqing Daily Press Group.

Liu Sifang noted the long-standing support provided by Chongqing Daily Press Group for SISU’s development and said that closer cooperation between the university and the media group would create new opportunities for both sides. He described Chongqing Daily Press Group as an important media platform in Chongqing, with a key role in presenting the city to national and international audiences through news communication and city branding.

Liu also spoke about SISU’s strengths in foreign language education, interdisciplinary research, area studies, and international talent development. He noted that these capabilities could contribute to Chongqing Daily Press Group’s efforts in media integration and international communication.

Looking ahead, SISU and Chongqing Daily Press Group will continue to build on their existing cooperation, explore new areas of partnership, and develop practical approaches for resource sharing and joint projects.

Chen Jin introduced Chongqing Daily Press Group’s plans for advancing media integration, strengthening international communication, and supporting Chongqing’s broader opening-up efforts. He noted that SISU’s international orientation and expertise in area studies, global communication, and foreign-related talent development closely align with the group’s needs and provide opportunities for deeper cooperation.

The meeting further strengthened the partnership between SISU and Chongqing Daily Press Group, bringing together the university’s academic resources and the media group’s communication capabilities to support international communication and regional development.
