University Pushes Forward with “Digital SISU” Initiative

2025-09-24

Sichuan International Studies University held a campus-wide meeting Monday, to review progress on its “Digital SISU” initiative, which aims to accelerate the university’s digital transformation in teaching, research, and governance.

President Dong Hongchuan and Vice President Wang Renqiang joined faculty and staff in Lide Hall for the session, where departments reported on advances in digital teaching tools, student services, research innovation, and campus management. Offices including Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Research, Finance, and Graduate School outlined both achievements and ongoing challenges.

Wang, who recently attended the 2025 World Intelligence Expo, urged SISU to seize the opportunities of the digital era. He emphasized that digital construction should be understood not as “a simple layering of technologies” but as a comprehensive transformation in teaching concepts, management models, and service systems.

Dong closed the meeting by noting that since the initiative’s launch in January 2024, the university has made progress on ten major priorities, from strengthening its digital foundation to piloting new applications. He stressed that the work must remain focused on faculty and student needs, while also ensuring strong data governance and security. “Digital technologies must become a driver of teaching, research, and campus life — a source of vitality for the university’s future development,” he said.
