Sichuan International Studies University held the third session of its second Faculty and Staff Congress and Union Members' Congress on March 27 in the International Lecture Hall of Hongwen Building.

Party Secretary Liu Sifang attended the meeting and delivered closing remarks. President Dong Hongchuan presented the university's 2025 work report. The meeting was presided over by Lu Bo, Standing Committee Member of the CPC SISU Committee and Vice President.

Also delivering reports at the meeting were Zhang Ludan, chair of the Faculty and Staff Union, and Peng Jiang, dean of the Institute of Educational Planning and Evaluation.

During group discussions, representatives reviewed the university's work report, the report on the work of the Faculty and Staff Congress and the union, and the draft of SISU's 15th Five-Year Development Plan. They discussed a wide range of issues, including discipline development, talent cultivation, faculty development, teaching and research, administrative services, campus support, and staff welfare, and offered suggestions for the university's future development.

The meeting also reviewed written reports on university finances, the Academic Committee's work, and union finances. Qin Yong, director of the proposal committee, presented a report on proposal submissions for the session. Representatives approved the draft of SISU's 15th Five-Year Development Plan and adopted resolutions on the other reports. One new member was also added to the union committee.

In his report, Dong reviewed the university's main achievements in 2025 in six areas: strengthening institutional leadership, improving the quality of student education, deepening reform and innovation, advancing faculty and staff development, expanding external engagement, and improving campus services and well-being. He also outlined priorities for 2026, including reinforcing the university's mission, deepening education reform, advancing disciplines and research, building a stronger faculty, expanding digital transformation, and broadening external cooperation.

Zhang summarized the work of the Faculty and Staff Congress and the union over the past year, highlighting progress in staff support, democratic participation and oversight, organizational development, and cultural activities for faculty and staff.

Peng outlined how SISU's 15th Five-Year Development Plan was prepared and reviewed the main elements of the draft, including an assessment of the university's current foundation, its strategic direction, major goals and tasks, and implementation arrangements. He said the plan sets out a roadmap for building SISU into a distinctive, high-level application-oriented research university specializing in foreign languages and would be further refined based on feedback from representatives.

In his closing remarks, Liu said the union plays an important role in representing and serving faculty and staff. He noted that over the past year it had made meaningful contributions in supporting the university's development, safeguarding staff interests, strengthening participatory governance, and enriching campus life. He called on union officials to continue aligning their work with the university's broader priorities and to contribute to SISU's continued development.
