In a vibrant celebration of youth and academic excellence, Yuan Jiajun, Secretary of the CPC Chongqing municipal committee, visited Sichuan International Studies University (SISU) on April 29, just before the May Fourth Youth Day.

Accompanied by Zou Yu, secretary of the CPC SISU committee, and Dong Hongchuan, president of SISU, Secretary Yuan explored the university’s storied history at the campus museum and visited Gele Academy, a hub of academic and cultural exchange. He took time to connect with students and faculty, praising their enthusiasm and ambition. “Seeing everyone so full of energy and dreams is truly inspiring,” Yuan remarked, noting the significance of SISU’s 75th anniversary as a milestone for new beginnings.

Yuan emphasized the strategic role SISU can play in supporting Chongqing’s efforts to build itself into a comprehensive inland hub for global engagement. He encouraged the university to continue developing interdisciplinary programs that integrate foreign language education with broader areas of expertise—an approach he referred to as “Foreign Language Plus Model”.

“In this new era, we need more globally minded, highly skilled professionals,” Yuan remarked. “SISU has an important role to play in preparing the next generation of talents who can contribute to the modernization of Chongqing and beyond.”

As SISU celebrates its 75th year, Yuan’s visit serves as a call to action for the university’s youth to harness their talents and contribute to Chongqing’s dynamic future. With its rich legacy and forward-looking vision, SISU is poised to answer that call.
