Sichuan International Studies University (SISU) hosted the 2026 Chongqing Collegiate Swimming Championships from September 29 to October 1, bringing together more than 350 students and faculty members from 19 universities and colleges across the city.

Held at SISU’s Jianhu Swimming Pool, the three-day event was organized by the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, hosted by SISU, and co-organized by the Chongqing Student Science, Sports and Arts Development Center.

Swimmers competed in three divisions based on their educational and athletic backgrounds. Division A featured students from undergraduate institutions, Division B included students from vocational colleges, and Division C brought together physical education majors and athletes from high-level university teams. Each division featured 13 men’s and 13 women’s events, with a new 4×100-meter mixed relay involving two male and two female swimmers added to this year's competition.

A highlight of the championships was the introduction of a semi-automatic electronic timing system, which allowed race results to be displayed on a large screen immediately after each event. The upgrade marked a technological milestone for collegiate swimming competitions in Chongqing, bringing the event closer to the standards of major swimming championships.

Throughout the competition, swimmers delivered impressive performances, breaking several championship records. SISU's swimming team also enjoyed success, earning one gold and four silver medals.

To support the event, several SISU departments worked together to coordinate competition arrangements, venue operations, safety measures, publicity, and volunteer services, ensuring the championships ran smoothly.

Beyond the competition, the championships offered student athletes from across Chongqing an opportunity to connect through sport, while encouraging greater participation in swimming and contributing to a vibrant campus sporting culture.
