The Latin American Council of Management Schools (CLADEA) visited SISU on September 14 to explore opportunities for academic cooperation, student development, and educational exchange between China and Latin America.

The delegation was led by CLADEA President Gisela Veritier and Valentín Touris Cambaceres, Acting Consul General of Uruguay in Chongqing. The visitors met with SISU President Zhu Chaowei and Deputy Party Secretary Gou Chaoli, along with representatives from the SISU Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and the College of Western Languages and Cultures.

During the meeting, Zhu introduced SISU’s international education initiatives, highlighting its existing partnerships and academic exchanges with Latin American institutions. He noted that while China and Latin America are geographically distant, educational and cultural exchanges can help bring the two regions closer together. He expressed hope that the visit would lead to closer cooperation in international education and cross-regional approaches to educational governance.

Veritier shared an overview of CLADEA’s history and its work in management education and research. She said the visit had given the delegation a deeper understanding of how SISU aligns its academic priorities with national needs, Chongqing’s development, and its own institutional goals. She also expressed interest in working with SISU to develop collaborative projects that could strengthen educational ties between China and Latin America.

The two sides also discussed how they could draw on their respective strengths to collaborate on regional and country studies, Confucius Institute development, and academic programs combining Spanish language education with international trade and management.

Before the meeting, the delegation toured SISU’s University History Museum, learning about the university’s history, academic programs, and international engagement.
