SISU Sets Spring 2026 Priorities at First Deans and Administrators Meeting

Sichuan International Studies University held its Spring 2026 deans and administrators meeting on Feb. 27, setting priorities for the semester and the year ahead. Liu Sifang, the University’s Party Secretary, presided over the meeting and delivered remarks. President Dong Hongchuan outlined the University’s key priorities for 2026 and highlighted major tasks for the new semester.

 

Describing 2026 as both the opening year of the 15th Five-Year Plan period and a pivotal year in the University’s pursuit of high-quality development, Dong outlined plans to deepen reform and innovation, produce signature achievements, strengthen research capacity, expand international engagement, and improve institutional governance.

 

He highlighted several priorities for the semester, including developing the University’s 15th Five-Year Plan, preparing documentation for doctoral degree authorization, taking part in a new round of discipline evaluation, completing the review of national first-class undergraduate programs and preparing for a new round of applications, advancing the New Liberal Arts 2.0 initiative, implementing inspection-related rectification measures, improving international education, expanding campus space, renovating student residence halls, and restructuring secondary units.

 

In his remarks, Liu recognized the progress and momentum across the University’s work. He said the past five years have been extraordinary for SISU, with the University making significant gains in discipline development, talent cultivation, scientific research, public service, and governance improvement while successfully meeting the major goals and targets set out in the 14th Five-Year Plan. He added that the University’s overall strength, core competitiveness, and social impact have all increased substantially.

 

Liu said the University has remained guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, stayed focused on the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, and pursued high-quality development in service of broader national needs. He called on SISU to continue producing achievements that strengthen its standing in western China, raise its national profile, and reflect Chongqing’s distinct identity, while ensuring that high-quality Party building continues to support the University’s long-term development.
