SISU Hosts Finals of 2025 Teaching Innovation Competition

2026-01-05

Sichuan International Studies University hosted the finals of its 2025 Teaching Innovation Competition on December 26, bringing together faculty from across the university to present new ideas in course design, classroom practice, and technology-supported instruction.

The event aimed to promote creative pedagogy and prepare faculty for upcoming national-level competitions. Participants competed in three tracks: a special-topic track, a senior-title humanities and social sciences track, and a track for faculty at the intermediate level and below. The judging panel included veteran educators, winners of previous national competitions, and specialists in instructional technology.

Throughout the day, faculty delivered short presentations explaining how they redesigned courses, addressed persistent learning challenges, and experimented with new instructional formats. Many highlighted the practical use of digital tools and artificial intelligence to strengthen engagement, feedback, and assessment.

Judges observed the presentations in person and provided detailed critiques. Entries were evaluated on curriculum design, clarity of learning objectives, handling of difficult content, appropriate use of technology, measurable impact on student learning, and the potential for wider adoption. Judges praised participants for refreshing course structures and testing new teaching strategies, while encouraging them to continue documenting results and sharing practices with colleagues.

For many faculty members, the competition doubled as a professional-learning community. Presenters noted that they valued the opportunity not only to showcase work but also to see how peers in other disciplines approach similar teaching problems.

The competition is part of SISU’s broader effort to support faculty development through workshops, research, mentoring, and peer review. Outstanding participants will be nominated for municipal and national competitions. University organizers said they plan to continue sponsoring initiatives that promote collaboration across disciplines and thoughtful use of digital tools in the classroom.

The event underscored SISU’s emphasis on strong teaching, course innovation, and faculty excellence as central components of the university’s academic mission.
