Admire Peonies, Run a “Flower Marathon,” and Savor Local Flavors: 2026 Dianjiang Peony Culture Festival Opens March 26

The press conference for the 2026 Dianjiang Peony Culture Festival was held on March 20. According to Upstream News, this year’s festival, themed "Peonies in Bloom, Meet You in Dianjiang," will officially open on March 26 and continue through May, inviting visitors to experience the beauty and energy of spring in Dianjiang.

This year's festival will feature a vibrant lineup of cultural and tourism activities, including peony viewing, immersive performances, intangible cultural heritage experiences, joint art exhibitions, and a food carnival. One of the festival's biggest highlights, the 2026 Chongqing Dianjiang Marathon, will take place on March 29, followed by a series of sporting events, including the first 113-kilometer long-distance triathlon in the Sichuan-Chongqing region. Together, these events will turn Dianjiang into a lively spring destination where culture, tourism, and sports come together.

The festival is also giving fresh momentum to Dianjiang’s local specialty industries. Across the county, more than 30,000 acres of peonies and herbaceous peonies not only create breathtaking spring scenery but also support a thriving flower-based economy. The industry now extends well beyond the fields, with peonies and herbaceous peonies transformed into fresh-cut flowers, flower cakes, flower wine, and other signature products. Annual processing output has exceeded 50 million yuan, while online sales have topped 10 million yuan a year, helping Dianjiang's floral products reach customers across the country.

At the same time, Dianjiang is continuing to upgrade its tourism offerings. Scenic attractions such as Kaizhifeng Tourist Area and Peony Cherry Blossom World have been improved, while newer destinations including Mingyue Tianxiang Resort and Peony Waterside park are quickly becoming visitors' favorites. Boutique accommodations such as Bagu Suji are also adding to the county's appeal. With stronger offerings across dining, lodging, sightseeing, shopping, and leisure, Dianjiang is creating a more complete visitor experience and giving travelers every reason to linger longer and return again.
