2023 SISU English Dubbing Competition Concludes

The highly anticipated 2023 SISU English Dubbing Competition Final concluded on May 12th.

The event was jointly organized by the Language Intelligence College (College of General Education) and the Student Union of the International Education College, which welcomed participation from all first-year students from non-foreign language majors at SISU.

Spanning a period of nearly two months, the dubbing competition encompassed preliminary rounds at the class level, leading up to the grand finale held at the university level. Throughout this rigorous process, a total of 13 entries were selected to compete in the final round. After an intense display of talent and skill at the final, accolades were awarded, including one special prize, two first prizes, four second prizes, and six third prizes.

The competition allowed students to freely form teams within their respective classes and choose classic film or TV clips for their dubbing performances. With the guidance of their teachers, participants were able to apply their listening and speaking skills in a practical setting, extending their learning experience beyond the confines of the classroom.

Professor Na Ying, who oversaw the competition, commended the contestants for their outstanding performances. She lauded their English oral skills, emphasizing their proficiency in pronunciation, intonation, material selection, stage emotional expression, and teamwork. Additionally, she provided valuable feedback and suggestions for areas that could benefit from further improvement.

Overall, the 2023 English Dubbing Competition showcased the remarkable talent and linguistic abilities of the participating students. It served as a platform for them to hone their English language skills, fostering naturalness and coherence in their spoken English.
