SISU Team Showcases Community “Chanhua” Craftsmanship

“Jin Shang Hua” innovation and entrepreneurship team of SISU showcased to a group of parent-child activity attendants the Chanhua (handmade flowers) craftsmanship at Yangguang Community in Shapingba Districton August 3, 2022.

The activity started with a simple game to arouse children’s interest in intangible Chinese cultural heritage. Then the team showed the attendees videos on the history of handmade flowers in China and the basic skills for making Chanhua. The gorgeously exquisite and symbolically rich handmade flowers enchanted the residents. The climax of the activity came when the team organized the community residents to DIY their own flowers with silk threads, paperboards and beads.

Many participants expressed their appreciation for the team’s work. Mr. Zhang, Party Secretary of the Yangguang Community said, “This event offers us a rare opportunity to get to a traditional Chinese art. Many of us had never heard of this art before. But it is so beautiful and interesting, we can actually make these beautiful things in our daily life.  I wish “Jin Shang Hua” team can do more to revive traditional Chinese culture and offer even greater community service in the future.”
