French Artist Deanna Gao Visits SISU

Deanna Gao, a well-known French painter and ambassador of Sino-French cultural exchanges, visited SISU on April 9th.

Yang Shaolin, dean of School of French Studies of SISU, and Liu Shuaifeng, the vice dean of the School, received Ms. Gao on the campus. Dean Yang Shaolin showed Ms. Gao around the campus and gave a detailed account of the University's history and the current progress of the School of French Studies. The two parties discussed potential collaborations in improving French translation practices for Chinese films, such as enhancing the quality of Chinese film subtitles and writing accurate French plot summaries. Ms. Gao also shared her keen interest in promoting valuable and excellent Chinese films to a wider audience in French-speaking countries and regions.

Deanna Gao has dedicated herself to promoting Sino-French cultural exchanges. She taught Chinese painting in Paris in 1975 and established the Sino-French Cultural Association. In 1984, she held a personal exhibition at the town hall in Amsterdam. In 1993, she participated in the Chinese Artists Exhibition held by UNESCO at the Grand Palais. She also launched the Paris Chinese Film Festival in 2004 and the Reader's Club of Chinese Literature in 2021. In recognition of her significant contributions to cultural exchanges, she was awarded the CCTV Annual Figures in the Spread of Chinese Culture in 2013.
