SISU Students Win Prizes in the 2022 National College Russian Language Competition

Four SISU students majoring in Russian studies won prizes in the 15th National College Russian Language Competition on May 6th. The competition, which is widely regarded as the most prominent event for Russian language majors in China, was held at the Songjiang Campus of Shanghai International Studies University.

The competition, sponsored by the China Scholarship Council, comprises three rounds - preliminary, semi-final, and final - and has three levels: primary-level undergraduates, senior-level undergraduates, and graduate students.

The semi-final involves impromptu speeches and oral expression, while the final includes Russian-Chinese translation and dialogue interpretation.

Students who win first, second, or third place in the competition will be fully funded by the China Scholarship Council to study in Russia for further education or degrees.

The College of Russian Studies, Sichuan International Studies University, is especially proud of the accomplishments of its students at this year's competition. Lai Cheng won the third prize in the primary-level undergraduate group, Ge Fei won the third prize in the senior-level undergraduate group, and Gao Zexiang and Wang Haoyu earned the Excellent Award in the graduate student group and the senior-level undergraduate group, respectively.

In total, 408 students from 163 universities across China participated in this prestigious national competition.

Xu Manlin, as the Dean of the College of Russian Studies, served as the supervisory committee of the competition, while Shao Nanxi, Associate Dean, led the team, and Luca Rada, foreign teacher, provided guidance and training.
