On June 8, 2024, Sichuan International Studies University (SISU) successfully hosted the 15th MODEL APEC Western Regional Conference. The event was organized by the Beijing Huaya Youth Exchange Development Foundation and the APAC Youth Simulation APEC Conference Organizing Committee, with support from SISU's School of International Relations and the SISU Model APEC Organization Association.

Forty-two exceptional students from nine universities participated, including Chongqing University, Southwest University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Northwest University, Chongqing University of Education, Dalian University of Foreign Languages, Xi'an International Studies University, Xi'an Eurasia University, and SISU itself. This marks the sixth consecutive year SISU has hosted the MODEL APEC Western Conference, solidifying its role as a key center for developing international organization talent in the western region.

The opening ceremony took place in the International Lecture Hall of the Hongwen Building. Professor Song Guohua, dean of the School of International Relations, welcomed the participants and expressed gratitude to the MODEL APEC Organizing Committee for their continuous support of SISU’s international talent programs. He emphasized the significance of MODEL APEC as an important platform for developing well-rounded international professionals and wished everyone a successful conference.

In the afternoon, formal sessions were held in two venues, A2-1 and A202 of the Gele Building. Participants, representing various economies, engaged in discussions and presentations on the theme of "Inclusive Growth," conducted entirely in English following APEC meeting procedures. These sessions were marked by lively debates and rich intellectual exchanges, fostering cooperation and consensus among the delegates.

After intense competition and thorough evaluation by the judges, 17 participants were qualified to advance to the national conference in Beijing this August, among whom six are from SISU, five—Yang Xueying, Fan Birui, Zhou Shuhua, Hu Fangting, and Chen Xiping.
