SISU International Faculty and Students Tour Wulong, Chongqing

To experience the native culture of Chongqing, twenty-three international teachers and students from 16 countries, including the United States, Germany, Thailand and Togo, took a tour to Wulong District from June 10 to 11, 2022. The event was organized by SISU.

The visitors toured Datian Wetland Village, Tianchi Miao ethnic village, the Tian’s village of the Gelao ethnic group, and a few more traditional Chongqing villages, where they learnt to make Ciba, do Tai Chi practice, make dried bean curd and rice wine. The visitors tried their hands in a wax-printing shop, and learnt the Baishou (hand waving) dance. They also enjoyed a boating tour on a huge lotus pond. The trip to Wulong helped the international faculty and students witness the idyllic landscape and the typical native (Bayu) culture. The visitors are impressed by the achievements of poverty alleviation in Chongqing.

It is amazing to see the beautiful countryside of Chongqing. The refreshing air, the unique Bayu culture, the gorgeous rural scene... all of these are truly impressive,” said Robin, a SISU teacher from the UK.

I tasted Ciba (sticky rice cake) earlier today,” said Liu Jian, an international student from Togo, It tastes like fufu, a Togolese food. I had so much fun here.”

This event was covered by both local media agencies, such as Wulong News Release, Ichongqing, Hualong Newsnet and some national media such as China Radio International.
