Sichuan International Studies University formally launched its Women’s Federation on December 12, marking the establishment of a new campus organization focused on supporting women faculty and students.

The launch was marked by the federation’s inaugural representatives’ meeting, which brought together university leaders and representatives from municipal women’s and education authorities. Peng Ye, Party Secretary and Chair of the Chongqing Women’s Federation, Liu Sifang, Party Secretary of SISU, and Qiao Jian, a senior official with the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission, attended the meeting and delivered remarks.

Peng congratulated the university on the creation of the Women’s Federation and emphasized the importance of building institutional platforms that support women’s professional development and participation in international exchange. She encouraged the new organization to focus on practical services for women faculty and students and to strengthen connections between campus and community resources.

Qiao highlighted the role of the federation in fostering a more inclusive academic environment and supporting teaching, research, and talent development at the university. He expressed hope that the organization would provide additional opportunities for women faculty and students to contribute to academic and public-engagement initiatives.

In his remarks, Liu thanked the Chongqing Women’s Federation and the Municipal Education Commission for their support. He described women faculty and students as an essential part of SISU’s academic community and said the launch of the Women’s Federation responds to growing demand for structured support, coordination, and representation on campus.

During the meeting, delegates reviewed a preparatory report on the federation’s formation and elected the first Executive Committee, including the chair and vice chairs. Gou Chaoli, Deputy Party Secretary of SISU, was elected as the founding Chair of the Women’s Federation.

In her address, Gou said the federation would focus on outreach, service programs, and institutional coordination, with the goal of creating a supportive and inclusive platform for women faculty and students across the university.
