In a collaborative effort to enhance mental health services, Sichuan International Studies University (SISU) hosted a systematic family therapy training from April 17 to 19, 2024. The training was part of the "BETTER US Growth Plan," which aims to develop the university’s psychological education team. Faculty members and counselors from SISU joined forces with Chongqing University, Chongqing Normal University, Chongqing Technology and Business University, and Sichuan Fine Arts Institute for this initiative.

Led by Professor Zhao Xudong, a noted psychiatrist and philosophical psychologist from Tongji University, the session focused on improving skills in family therapy. Professor Zhao used his extensive research background and clinical experience to provide a comprehensive overview of the theoretical and practical aspects of systematic family therapy. Participants engaged in diverse learning activities, including case studies and role-playing, to deepen their understanding of family dynamics and therapeutic techniques.

The event was well-received, with participants expressing a profound appreciation for the deeper insights they gained into family therapy. The training is expected to significantly enhance the professional capabilities of the psychological education team at SISU, preparing them to better serve students and collaborate effectively with parents.

Sichuan International Studies University plans to continue such professional development sessions to bolster the skills of its educational staff and promote the advancement of mental health education.
