SISU Students Offer Free French Courses to Local Neighborhood

In collaboration with Huxi Township, Shapingba District, Chongqing, the College of French Studies of SISU launched a free French teaching program.

The program is a ten sessions French classes taught by student volunteers of College of French Studies of SISU to children from the Dachenghu Neighborhood.

On May 7th at 3:00 PM, the inaugural session of the project commenced smoothly. Volunteers Jiang Enni, Wu Jiaxin, Su Enning, Pang Yifan, and Han Jinliao visited the Dachenghu Neighborhood in Huxi township, Shapingba District, bringing an engaging French language class with the theme "Bonjour, France" to the children in the neighborhood.

The volunteers started by captivating the children with vivid images showcasing the scenic beauty of France, introducing them to the fundamental elements of French culture.

The volunteers then went on to introduce the children to the French way of greeting, while deepening their understanding through activities such as comparing cultural differences between China and France, engaging in interactive games. The children actively participated and showed a strong interest in French culture during the class.

In the end, the young instructors taught the children a French greeting song.

Both the children from the neighborhood and the volunteer students from the College of French Studies have benefited from this experience. The children gained an insight into French culture and an understanding of the similarities and differences between Chinese and French cultures. The student volunteers from SISU have also gained practical experience in applying what they have learnt into real teaching.
