On September 16th, the historical site of the Third Bureau of the Political Department of the KMT Military Committee and the Cultural Affairs Committee, as well as the historic buildings at Chongqing Jiaotong University, were included in the eighth batch of 'Chinese 20th Century Architectural Heritage Projects.

This event is jointly organized by the Chinese Cultural Relics Society and the Chinese Architectural Society, with the guidance of Sichuan University, Sichuan Provincial Architectural Design and Research Institute Co., Ltd., and the Chinese Cultural Relics Society's 20th Century Architectural Heritage Committee. The project aims to 'focus on the achievements of New China's construction, pay attention to revolutionary history, urban renewal projects and the revitalization of industrial heritage, while also focusing on major historical events and the former residences of notable figures, works in China by renowned foreign architects, and educational buildings.

The historical site of the Third Bureau of the Political Department of the Military Committee of the KMT and the Cultural Affairs Committee of the National Government is located in the current Xike Sanlu, Weidianyuan First Community, Weiyong Road, Shapingba District. Its architectural style is that of a late Qing Dynasty quadrangle courtyard with small blue-tiled roofs and sloping gable roofs. In late 1938, the Third Bureau of the Political Department of the KMT Military Committee and the Cultural Affairs Committee of the National Government established a rural office here, and Guo Moruo, who was then the head of the Third Bureau, once lived here. He completed several representative works during his stay at this historical site."

The historical buildings of Chongqing Jiaotong University (Nan’an Campus) comprise the Blue Building, the Red Building, and a Water Tower. They constitute the oldest group of buildings on the campus since the establishment of Chongqing Jiaotong University. The Red Building and Blue Building are named after the colors of their bricks, and they were originally used as classrooms for the Chongqing Highway Engineering School at that time.

According to Ma Guoxin, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Chairman of the 20th Century Architectural Heritage Committee of the Chinese Cultural Relics Society, these heritage sites from the 20th century onwards have several notable differences compared to ancient heritage. He explained, 'They encompass a wide range of events from China's modern history, including political, economic, and societal changes, as well as shifts in people's everyday lives. Together, they serve as a testament to a multitude of transformations, making them a highly diverse and comprehensive form of architectural heritage.
