8th Chongqing Municipal Drama and Quyi Competition Concludes

The final round of the drama category of the 8th Chongqing Drama and Quyi Competition came to a close on May 6 at Bayu Theater in Yuzhong District.

The competition was hosted both online, through real-time image live streaming, and in-person at Bayu Theater, bringing joy, tears, and enlightenment to audiences.

Nineteen theater performances featuring both the unique characteristics of Bayu culture and modern elements were showcased, including skits, one-act plays, sitcoms, and Huadeng(acrobatic) operas. These plays depicted complex relationships between characters, presented the rich cultural and stylistic features of Bayu, and demonstrated the charm of theater art from various perspectives such as rural revitalization, family relationships, and social changes.

One skit, titled "It's Not the Matter of Money," tells a story between strangers that were linked by money, revealing a life philosophy that genuine love and affection cannot be measured by money. Another play, "The Telephone Booth at the Street Corner," tells touching story of an estranged father and her daughter, which ends happily after all the misunderstanding between the two family members are cleared.

The Chongqing Drama and Quyi Competition is held every two years, and this year's event was hosted by the Chongqing Municipal Development Committee of Culture and Tourism, organized by the Chongqing Public Cultural Art Center and the Development Committee of Culture and Tourism of Yuzhong District.
