2023 Chongqing Marathon Kicks off

The 2023 Chongqing Marathon kicked off on March 19. Over 30,000 runners from 347 cities around the world raced against each other on the beautiful riverside running track spanning Nan’an, Yuzhong and Banan Districts in the picturesque city of Chongqing.

With a record setting of 2 hours, 11minutes and 55 seconds, Anderson Saitoti Seroi from Kenya won the championshipin the men's group. Fantu Zewude Jifar from Ethiopia took the top spot in thewomen's group, clocking in at an impressive 2 hours and 26 minutes. Chinese runner Li Zhixuan came up second with a time of 2 hours, 29 minutes, and 52 seconds. In addition to the winners, 727 participants who completed the race within 3 hours were also awarded trophies.

As a full Marathon event in western China, Chongqing Marathon has been an iconic brand of the city. This year’s event isalso a testament to the city's commitment to providing top-notch event services.The organizing committee went to great lengths to optimize the event services. During the event, the committee launched an assistance service through WeCom app where each individual participant could get replies to his or her questions. The event was lavishly supported by 1,500 local volunteers, 40 supply stations equipped with 120 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) and 75 medical stations staffed with 830 professional medical personnel.

This year's event featured a number oftechnological innovations, including a smart event command system that provides real-time visualization of event data and racecourse videos, an intelligent event emergency management system that monitors and dispatches medical resources and a real-time WBGT heat index monitoring system that provides date for medical security in real time. Additionally, nearly 30,000 runners participated in the event remotely through an online race.
