From May 25th to 28th 2017, the Eighth International Contrastive Linguistics Conference (ICLC-8) was successfully held in the University of Athens, Greece. Professor Wang Renqiang, a doctoral supervisor of SISU, director of Discipline Construction Office and director of Institute of Lexicography attended this conference on invitation.
Targeted at the category ambiguity of modern English and modern Chinese, a heated topic and difficult point in the academic community. Professor Wang Renqiang’s speech was characterized by both cogent, supportive facts and thorough, theoretical analysis, thus arousing a passionate discussion among Professor Paul Hopper from Carnegie Mellon University of the U.S. and other participants. Besides, Ma Yongqiang, a doctoral candidate who studies foreign linguistics and applied linguistics (lexicography), participated in the conference on invitation as the second author.
