A symposium on cyber economy and Security of BRICs was held in Chongqing on May 20. Leaders from the International Liaison Department , CPC Central Committee, and the municipal government, experts and scholars of BRICs, representatives of Chinese universities, research institutes and industries, participated in the seminar , which was sponsored by the Chinese Council of BRICs Cooperation Think Tank and Sichuan International Studies University, and organized by SISU BRICs Research Institute.
The Syposium is one of the events sponsored by the China Council of BRICs Think as China has assumed the rotating presidency of the BRIC countries. It is expected that this event will serve as good prelude for the coming Xiamen BRICs Summit.
Li Keyong, president of SISU, Dong Weihua, the associate director of International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Vitali Cabotnik, senior expert of the Military and Political Center of MGIMO University delivered speeches in the opening ceremony. Ma Bin, vice president of Tencent; Jose Eduardo Malta de Sa Brenda, senior researcher of Brazil Institute of Applied Economy,; Tian Youliang, professor of State Key Laboratory for Public Big Data and the Institute of Cryptography and Data Security of Guizhou University,Wang Wen, executive director of Chongyang Financial Research Institute of Renmin University of China,; Xiao Yifu the executive director of Sino-Canadian Affairs Committee, Pu Ji, the CSO and founder of “Poly-Sharing Internet plus Big Data Platform” of TOPOW and Geboer Nilmar, senior lecturer of the Department of Criminology and Forensic Medicine of School of Human Sciences of University of KwaZulu-Natal delivered keynote speeches at the seminar.
The symposium addressed the following topics: “New economic cooperation driven by economic growth and stability”, “cyber security coordination on the construction of security community in virtual space” and “collaborative development of the Internet with a new model of South-South cooperation”.
As one of the earliest universities to conduct country study, Sichuan International Studies University was elected a vice chairman of the China Council of BRICs Think Tank.
